Watch Out: Your Child May Be Lacking Minerals!

Minerals and Children's Growth

In the previous Biocera Health Newsletter (Vol.6, released on Oct. 6), we discussed on the relationship between minerals and our body, and how the lack of minerals in body results in different kinds of diseases. Indeed, we cannot emphasize more on the importance of minerals, especially in the physical development of children. So, in this volume, we are going to discuss how minerals and lack of minerals affect our children's growth. Most of the contents were originated from Dr. Jeon's new book, "Cure the Incurable: Antioxidant Alkaline Water Changes Your Life."
Water Secret: Water, Minerals and Our Body

On January 27, 2012, Ulsan MBC (Moonhwa Broadcasting Center) showed a documentary titled, "Water Secret." The documentary, which focused on the effects of RO(Reverse Osmosis) Water in human body, shocked Korean households - especially parents- and became an important eye-opening incident for people to realize what kind of water they are drinking.

In one of the experiments shown, scientists tried to test the role of water and minerals on the growth of children. In an urban elementary school in Korea, about 21 out of 31 students (68%) answered that they usually drink RO water, both at home and at school. A hair examination was conducted among 10 of both RO water-drinking students and spring-water drinking students in the rural schools. The examination (analyzed by MEDIMEX, a research institute) was to determine the mineral components as well as quantity in students' body.

As you can see in this chart, 6 out of 10 urban students drinking RO water lackedCalcium in the body, while only 1 out of 10 rural, spring-water consuming children lacked Calcium. The case was similar with Magnesium. This shows that despite the fact that students in the cities live in an environment with abundance of different kinds of foods compared to the ones in the countryside, the reason behind their mineral deficiency is due to the differences in the quality of water they drink every day.

In fact, the research shows that people drinking water filtered through Reverse Osmosis system lack in minerals and become acidic. In fact, researchers do not recommend drinking RO water since the water washes out the minerals that are needed for our body. According to Dr. Ingrid Rosberg (quoted in the documentary) of the International Water Association, "Water without minerals is like rainwater or distilled water, which drains the body of minerals."

We need to pay special attention to children's food and water consumption since it is crucial to their growth. Everyone would agree on the importance of minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc in children's development. Thus, we - especially those parents with little kids - should remember that drinking the right water with abundant minerals - filtered through Antioxidant Alkaline Filtration System-  is important.
