Winter Alert! Solutions to Overcome "Super Dry" Skin Aging

How Do We Prevent Skin from  Drying/Aging?   The core of " wintertime skincare "  is to prevent the main cause for aging-dryness. One of the ways to prevent skin from drying is to use exfoliating gel, peeling cream or scrub to remove the "dead skin cells" on the skin surface. It is important to exfoliate because when dead skin cells stay and are accumulated on the skin surface, it first hinders perspirations, which is the process of eliminating/excreting wastes from the body. Then this leads into skin troubles. This is why many women exfoliate once or twice a week to maintain clear, healthy skin. However,  one should also remember that excessive exfoliation can irritate the ski n. This is because in case of too much exfoliation, newly created cells can be as well removed with dead cells, thereby removing the protective shield or layer of skin. Thus, one must provide adequate amount of moisture and nutrients. Also, during winter, one experiences the reducti

Have you heard of "dry eye syndrome?"

Drinking Strong Acidic Beverages and Our Body

People often question the possibility of whether or not strong acidic beverages like cola erode parts of your stomach, intestine and esophagus, resulting in ulcers. The answer is no, and the reason can be explained by looking at the mystery behind the human body. How does it work inside  our body? For the stomach to properly digest the food, our body needs hydrochloric acid, which requires minerals such as salt. In this process, the sodium carbonate (NaHCO3), which is used as a pH regulator to maintain stable alkaline conditions appear in the stomach. For those who are interested in the scientific formula, it is written as: NaCl + H2O + CO2 = NaHCO3 + HCl.   First, we take food (Na and Cl), drink water and inhale carbon dioxide. In our body, it becomes NaHCO3 + HCl. The NaHCO3 has weak alkali components that yield neutralization when met with HCl (hydrogen chloride). Neutralization between acid and alkaline then removes the toxic property in HCl and turns it into harml

“Obesity or overweight is not a fat problem but it's an over-acid problem”

“ Obesity or overweight is not a fat problem but it's an over-acid problem ”   Robert O. Young PhD , a research scientist and the author of the book, "The pH Miracle for Weight Loss" on his interview with CNN, shared tips on balancing body chemistry to lose weight. He said, “ Because our bodies constantly need energies, and there's waste product in energy production, which are acids, if our body does not eliminate acids through urination, perspiration or respiration, that acid gets on our hips, thighs, our waste lines, brain and this is what makes us fat ." The question is, how do we balance our body?  You should know what kinds of foods and drinks make you over-acidic. As we have discussed it at the last newsletter, one should avoid intake of too much acidic foods such as beef, chicken and pork, eggs, vinegar, soy sauce, mushrooms, corn, peanuts, dairy products, chocolate, tea and soda . AMA says Obesity is a Disease

Recently, the American Medical Association (AMA) has officially declared “ obesity ” as a “ disease , ” which is bringing considerable attention. People say that such official decision from an authorized medical association is expected to have a huge impact in the society. By classifying obesity as a type of disease, over 30 percent of Americans became patients all of a sudden . Some analysts predict that that the rise in the number of “ patients ” can lead to dramatic increase in drug prescription, resulting in confusion and chaos. On the other hand, other analysts have positive perspectives on the designation of obesity as disease, saying that official recognition will encourage more support/funding on treatment and future researches. In an interview with the US Today, Professor Samuel Klein the director of the Center for Human Nutrition at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis said, “ The most important aspect of AMA decision is that AMA is r

Love-Hate Experiment: How Words Affect Living Things

[Love & Hate Experiment] Check out our experiment on the relationship between words and water. In our office, we grew two onions for the past 3 months.
